In 1910 through 1920, Leroy lived with his family on a farm in Whitebead, Oklahoma. His father was a farmer. According to Indian Legend, Salvania, a Caddo Indian woman and her son set up camp west of Pauls Valley in the 1800's. She was leader of a band of Caddos traveling from Louisiana through Oklahoma. As other tribes came to make trades, they first had to be approved by the Indian woman who wore the white beads. They began to ask for her by that name. She died at the age of 95 or 96 and is believed to be buried near the old campground. Leroy married Edith Beatrice Lewis on 23 of March 1929 in Garvin County. They were living with his family on Mary Niblack Road in Morgan, Oklahoma in 1930. Leroy was a wage or salary laborer in agriculture. Leroy and his wife had 2 daughters and were living in Ardmore in 1940. He was registered for the WWII Draft and living on 1221 A Street NW with his wife. His draft card said he was 5'6, 147 pounds, with blue eyes and a light complexion. The 1940 census listed Leroy as a wage or salary laborer for the government, most likely WPA Leroy's Dad, John Seabird Henderson was a widow and living with them. In 1941, Leroy was listed as working in construction in the city directory. Leroy and his wife were living on Montana Street in North Turlock, California in 1950. He was working as a tool sharpener without pay. Their youngest daughter was still living at home. His wife, Edith died in Stanislaus, California on 31st of January, 1993. Leroy died in Jackson, Medford, Oregon in 1998.
