Cheley Frank Carpenter, Sr., 92, of Magnolia passed in his sleep on Monday, January 16, 2023. He was born January 27, 1930 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Cheley B. and Elma Causey Carpenter. He was a rancher, rodeo stock contractor, and a statistician for the U.S.D.A. He loved building things, umpiring softball games, and refereeing high school and Community College basketball games.



Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Edith Mills Carpenter; children, Cheley Carpenter, Jr. of Poplarville, MS; Rhonda Chisholm of Magnolia, Naomi Smith of Magnolia, Leitha (John) McCullough of Richton, MS, and Ellen Sessions of Zachary, LA; sister, Peggy Carpenter Starkey, of Houston, TX; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; special friend, Ralph Walters; caregivers, Daniel Barclay, Faith Dyson, and Valerie McGehee; and his little dog, Minnie Pearl.



A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Cheley is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Tangipahoa Baptist Church, 7555 Thompson Rd, Summit, MS. Reception/Repass afterwards at church.
