Gary was born March 9, 1955 in Clarendon to John and Lena Sue Spruill McAllister. He was raised by his grandparents, R.B. and Othel Spruill. He married Sandra Kay Altman on November 15, 1975 in Estelline. He had been a lifetime resident of Memphis and worked for Texas Department of Transportation prior to his retirement. He loved Nascar, horses, rodeos, and hunting rattlesnakes.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents that raised him, R.B. and Othel Spruill; his parents; his sister, Johnnie Sue Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy McAllister of Memphis; his daughter, Lesha Krieg and husband Jeremy of Stinnett; his son, John McAllister of Memphis; 4 grandchildren, Kaylaneth, Astin, Ethan, and Mattie; and numerous in laws and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Fairview Cemetery Association.
