Mead Jackson Haile was the son of Mead Haile and Elizabeth (Betsy) Jackson of Bedford Co, TN. He married Livy Ann Cavin about 1835 probably in Bedford Co, TN; the courthouse records burned long ago. They migrated to Stone County, MO before the Civil War to join Livy Ann's parents there. They later moved on to Cooke Co, TX about the end of the Civil War. I think they lost everything in the war. They had four sons who fought for the Confederacy and one for the Union. Two sons died in the war.

Mead Jackson moved back to MO to live with his oldest son, Jackson Overstreet Haile, several years after Livy Ann died in Texas. If he ever had a stone in the cemetery, there is no record of it left. A grandson wrote that he was buried in the cemetery at Marionville. A group of us got together and bought him a stone. We placed it near some other Hailes and hope it is correctly located.

Several of their children could not be linked to them for various reasons...
Jackson Overstreet Haile (March 12, 1837-February 13, 1905), buried Rose Hill Cemetery, Christian Co, MO

William Carrol Haile (abt. 1839-April 04, 1864), died Pleasant Hill, LA; CSA casualty.

Christopher Columbus Haile (abt. 1841-August 10, 1861, died Wilson Creek, MO; CSA casualty)

Mary Elizabeth Haile (abt. 1842-April 07, 1873, place of burial for her and her husband, James R. White, unknown; Cooke Co, TX presumed)

I fought ANY middle name for Mead J. Haile for years...but finally accepted "Jackson" as his middle name. "Jackson" is his mother's maiden name. He named his first son "Jackson." And I received an OLD picture with "Mead Jackson Haile" written on the back. That picture was my 2nd great-grandfather....

I originally entered him incorrectly on Find A Grave as "Mead James Haile." Sorry!!!
