James Frederick Norris, 77, of North Tazewell, Va., died on Wednesday (Dec. 11, 1996) at a hospital here.

He was born at McDowell County, a son of William Jr. and Lean (Fulcher) Norris.

He lived at Baptist Valley and Caretta before moving to Beckley for part of the year. He retired as a chief purchasing agent from Oga Coal Co. at Coalwood, was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of North Tazewell United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel (White) Norris.

Surviving are a son, Michael Norris of Staunton, Va.; two daughters, Donna Molnar of Beckley and Carlotta Rhine of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Leota Kneaval of Pinehurst, N.C., and Izetta Lipford of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, William Penn Norris of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel at Tazewell by the Rev. Brad Scott, with burial at Grandview Memory, Bluefield, Va.
