William "Billy" F. Garrett, of Covington, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the age of 88. Billy served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He worked at Atlanta Gas Light Company for 15 years. Billy then went on to start his own construction company and founded Kids "R" Great Daycare and Preschool. He purchased a farm in Newton County, where he raised and cared for cattle and chickens. Billy enjoyed tending to his animals and working on his tractors. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved going fishing and camping across the county in his RV. Additionally, Billy was a phenomenal woodworker and could build anything from babydoll cribs to barns and houses by himself. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing time spent playing with them and creating enjoyable memories together. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Ruby Flora Garrett; sisters, Katherine Spradley, Lucille Orth; brothers, Sanford "Buddy" Garrett, and Fred Garrett.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gail Gerlach Garrett; children, Debbie Aldridge (Steve), Mike Garrett (Janice), Denise Reich (Tom); grandchildren, Jason Aldridge, Andrew Aldridge (Joy), Caroline Wilhelm (Jeff), Daniel Garrett (Laura), Elizabeth Harrell (Zach), Victoria Reich, Scott Reich; 10 great-grandchildren; and other loving family members.

A Funeral Service for Billy will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Charles Reynolds officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to his service from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.
