Betty was a devoted and faithful member of the Simpson United Methodist Church. She attended Sunday School regularly, attaining perfect attendance for many years. Betty sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's club. She also prepared Christmas gift bags for church members and community residents.
Betty and her husband Glen were rarely apart. Many Saturdays were spent "gallivanting" to yard sales, flea markets and stores. They enjoyed jarring foods such as tomatoes and red beets.
Betty greatly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She sought ways to entertain them such as road trips and playing "school".
Preceding her in death were her husband, Glen, August 2022, sisters, Anna Marlow, Peggy Hubler, Barrie Neumeister and brothers, William Lucas, Robert Lucas, Fredrick Lucas and Roland Lucas. Surviving sisters are Geraldine Mervine of Ashland and Nancy Higgins of Pottsville, a sister-in- law, Lillian Lucas, Barry Township, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sandra wife of Norman Stitzer, Grandchildren, Valerie wife of George Dornsife, John Stitzer, Glen Stitzer, also Great Grandchildren, Reese and Alise Dornsife, Joslin, Jadelin, and Jolin Stitzer, all of Gordon.
The family requests memorials in Betty's name be made to Simpson United Methodist Church, 119 Biddle Street, Gordon, PA 17936. As per Betty's wishes, there will not be a viewing or funeral service.
