New Holland – Lafe Bale, 87, of New Holland, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Mar 29, 1981, in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, where he was admitted Mar. 25.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Cain Funeral home, Mason City, Rev. William Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Military rites at graveside will be conducted by members of Jackson-Keen American Legion Post 496.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today. A veteran of World War I, he was a charter member of the Jackson-Keen post. He had retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company.
He was born at Pikeview, KY., Mar. 27, 1894, a son of William and Anna Osborn Bale. He married Ecil Stiltz Aug 27. 1919, at Lincoln. She preceded him in death may 26, 1979.
Surviving are a son, Larry of Mason City; four daughters, Mrs. Theresa Dye of Cudahy, Calif., Mrs. Beryle Brouch, of new Holland, Mrs. Wanda Harman of Abingdon and Mrs. Hilda Kelly of Whitter, Calif., 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Fanny Loring of Chicago and Mrs. Calriece Hoehn of Springfield.
Eight brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
