Ronald Homer Hearne, MD, was a loving husband and father. He was born on July 19, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas to Werdna and Homer Hearne. On January 12, 2023, Ron passed away peacefully at home and into the presence of Jesus. His wife Betty was by his side.

Ron graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth in 1962, attended Arlington College (now UT Arlington) and completed his undergraduate degree in biology in 1966. Ron was accepted to Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and began his medical school training in the fall of 1966.

In medical school, Ron met the love of his life, Betty Vee Wilson. They were married on August 19, 1967. After graduating from medical school in 1971, Ron completed his residency in pathology at Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was a founding physician at Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital, where he began his pathology practice in 1975. Ron's career spanned more than 37 years, and he retired in April 2013. As a physician, Ron always focused on how he could best serve his patients. He was empathetic, caring, and relentless in pursuing a healthy path for his patients.

Ron is survived by his wife Betty Wilson Hearne, his children and their spouses Vicki and Cengiz Satir, Ryan and Claire Hearne and Marian and Tim Hilpert.

He has 11 grandchildren: Alexander Wilson Hearne, who preceded Ron in death in 2017. Arden Elizabeth Hearne, Noah Hearne Satir, Luke Hearne Hilpert, Benjamin Emin Satir, Lily Ana Hilpert, Servet Paul Satir, Ronald Wilson Daniel Satir, Bennett Ryan Hearne, Davis Owen Hearne and William Cengiz David Satir.

He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Trish White, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at First Christian Church, 702 N. Mound Street in Nacogdoches followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.

Dr. Hearne will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
