Spencer Dean Anderson, age 87, of Blue Mounds, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 at home, with his wife, Renee at his side. He was born on Feb. 23, 1935 in Elmhurst, IL, son of Joseph Earl and Myrtle (Espeseth) Anderson.

Spencer graduated from York High School, Elmhurst in 1953. He attended Washburn Trade School in Chicago, IL and became a journeyman carpenter in 1957. Spencer married Renee Kathleen Brudi on May 1, 1965 in Elmhurst. Spencer served his apprenticeship and worked as a carpenter/foreman for 16 years in the Chicago area before moving to Blue Mounds in 1968. He worked for various construction companies in Madison. He was superintendent at Joe Daniels Construction for 30 years before retirement in 2006. Spencer was proud of his 53 years in the construction business. He was known for being able to build or fix anything. He raised Hereford cattle for many years and loved animals.

Spencer enjoyed his 1941 Cadillac and was a member of the Cadillac/LaSalle Club. He liked to drive and show his 1970 Barracuda at car shows along with his son. Over the years, he owned many sports cars, including his 1959 Corvette that he restored.

Spencer is survived by his wife of 57 years, Renee; son, Dwight D. (Ashley) Anderson of Blue Mounds; daughters, Lenee M. Anderson of Mount Horeb and Jenee J. (Chad) Hunter of Dalton; grandson, Drake Hunter; granddaughters, Geneva and Vera Hunter; and step grandson, Max.

You were a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, role model and mentor. You were the one our family went to for advice and help. We will miss you greatly.

A private burial will be held at German Valley Cemetery, Blue Mounds.
