Laura Louise Long Hunphrey, 90, of Athens passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Limestone Chapel with burial at Gatlin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Laura Louise Long Humphrey, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at home. She was born May 21, 1917 to Elmer and Minnie Long. She was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church and was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer Joe Murphy, Athens, and John Albert Murphy, Decatur; one step-son, Richard Humphrey Jr., Birmingham; two daughters, Bettye Faye Hasting, Gulf Shores, and Martha Ann Gatlin, Athens; two step-daughters, Ruby McCurley, Tanner and Irene Emerson, Arab; one sister, Annie Mae Peek, Ft. Payne; 13 grandchildren, Randy Hasting, Gulf Shores, Brad Murphy, Athens, Laura Clay, Rogersville, Charlotte Alsup, Minor Hill, Tenn., Rose King, Athens, Angela Campbell, Athens, Tammy Smith, Athens, Katrina Eskridge, Athens, Amy Green, Athens, Joy Reece, Ardmore, Michelle Allen, Angela Haff and Bill Hagganmaker; 32 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; several step-grandchilren; two special friends, Nathie McCurley and Doris Smith.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Humphrey; her parents, Elmer and Minnie Long; sister, Levie Sanders; four brothers, H.T. Long, L.D. Long, Clyde Long and Claude Long; step-son, Benford Humphrey.Pallbearers will be Randy Hasting, Brad Murphy, Tony Thompson, Chris Campbell, Curt Alsup, Adam Smith.Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Posey, Trent Thornton, Heath Murphy, Travis Murphy, Jimmy Campbell, Kody Campbell, Clint Glossup Landon, Jarrod Eskridge and Blake Eskridge.
