Anna Maria Rice, 82, a 35-year resident of Colorado Springs, died March 20, 2009, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. She was born February 28, 1927, in Regensburg, Germany to the late Emmerich and Anna (Papacek) Scherz.
Anna was a homemaker who was an avid reader, loved her grandchildren, hiking and being outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Rice; daughter, Anita Lewis of Florissant, Colorado; sister, Eleanore Smith of Pryor, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Tony Guidry of Monument, Colorado; Lawrence Guidry of Conway, Arkansas; Annamarie Thompson of Colorado Springs; Kurt Ganter of Colorado Springs; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Emmerich Scherz.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel.
