Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Noell Smith
Peggy Noell Smith passed away after a brief battle with leukemia on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Greensboro, NC on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the church.

Peggy was the beloved daughter of the late Jean Ray Roberts and John (Jack) Henley Noell. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Donald Smith, of Greensboro, NC; her sister, Cilla Thomas of Columbia, SC, sister Nancy Adams (Bill) of Mooresville, NC, and brother Eddie Adams (Faye) of Raleigh, NC; children, Alison Nimchuk (Zack) of Chapel Hill, NC, Julie Moseley (Pat) of Henderson, NC, Carla Shober (Steve) of Charlotte, NC, and Garrett Smith of Charlotte, NC. Peggy was an adoring grandmother of 8: Summer Auman, Madeline Shober, Fulton Shober, Lauren Moseley, Leah Moseley, Harrison Shober, Jackson Nimchuk, and Kylie Nimchuk; nieces and nephews Randi Coker (Drew), Katie Thomas, Jeannie Poissant (Neil), Chris Adams (Tracy), Lori Adams (Brian), and Andy Adams (Meghan). She was preceded in death by her step-father Chet Adams and brother, Eugene.

She was born Margaret Elizabeth Noell in Durham, NC and grew up in Shelby, NC. She graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro, NC before moving to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands where she learned to scuba dive and later gave birth to her first daughter. She moved back to Greensboro where her second daughter was born. Peggy had a successful career in sales in Philadelphia, PA after attending multiple colleges while raising her two girls. She received her degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University in NJ. She moved back to Greensboro in the early 80's to be close to her mother. In Greensboro, she ran two successful computer consultant businesses. She was a founding member and later became the Executive Director of the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB). After retiring from the NACCB, she spent the last years of her career working in the Elder Law industry, most recently as a Marketing Outreach Director for The Arrington Firm, PC.

She was an active member of the Triad Retirement Living Association (TRLA) and an active member at St Francis, working for many years on the Friends of St. Francis committee. She played with two bridge groups, loved traveling, doing crosswords, sudoku, reading, and being with her cherished family and friends.
