Susanna Thompson Thornton married in Chesterfield County, Va. in 1825, Andrew Glassell, Jr. born at "Torthorwald," Madison County, Va. He was a veteran of the War of 1812. After inheriting part of his father's estate "Torthorwald," he sold it and bought "Richland" in Culpeper County, Va. In 1836 they moved to Sumter County, Ala., near Livingston, where he acquired a cotton plantation. Six children were Ellen Elizabeth (1825-d.yng), Andrew, III (1827-1901), Philip Rootes (1829-d.yng), William Thornton (1831-76), John Henry Hobart (1833-53)(unm), and Susan Thornton Glassell (1835-93).
