Charles D. Maberry, age 91 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born Thursday, April 30, 1931 in Jackson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Birdle and Elizabeth "Lizzie" ( Swearengin) Maberry.

Charles was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He attended Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He graduated from Tennessee Tech and then went on to get his Masters Degree from East Tennessee State University. Charles worked for the Department of Environment as an Environmentalist for over 50 years.

He enjoyed Walking Horse shows, going to the Wilsons Horse Sale and going to auctions, especially with his auction buddy Rhea Wilson, who was the designated driver because Charles was always talking and telling tales instead of watching the road.

He enjoyed flea markets and really loved to trade. Charles enjoyed eating even though it did not show in his weight and he was always hungry. He really enjoyed spending time with people, socializing and just enjoyed life in general. Charles always enjoyed traveling with Ruth and his friends from the Fair Board which he was on for many, many years. He was fortunate to have enjoyed a good long life and always had a positive outlook on everything, always had a good word about everyone.

Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years: Ruth Maberry; two sons: Palo Douglas Maberry and Charles Michael Maberry - all of Cookeville; sister: Ruth Woolbright of Jackson County; two brothers: Hoyt (Shirley) Maberry and Joe (Debbie) Maberry - all of Cookeville.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by brother: James Maberry; two sisters-in-law: Emogene Maberry and Donna Pace; six brothers-in-law: Donald Woolbright, Bill Trobuagh, Phillip Trobaugh, Jim Lafever, Rhea Wilson, Kenneth Deweese.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 12th from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with with Bro. Mark Gaw officiating. Interment followed in Cookeville City Cemetery, in Cookeville.
