Fanny was the first child of Constantine & Eva Bender. She married & divorced Henry Kareth. They had no children. Aunt Fanny, as she was known to the family first lived with her sisters Barbara & Theresa. Then she lived with her brother, Stephen for most of the rest of her life. She was a real character. She loved sauerkraut.

From a niece, Teresa Wittekind's recollection in 1970, Fanny's mother, Eva, mentioned that Fanny was so small at birth that she fit into a shoe box, which was kept near the kitchen stove to keep warm. Fanny's life span stretched from being a 17 year old teenager at the end of the Civil War, to holding a great nephew as baby who was born in 1942.
