Thomas J. Palmer

Church Hill – Thomas Jessee Palmer, 69, Rt. 5, Church Hill, died Tuesday at 9:10 a.m. at the Veterans Hospital, Mountain Home, following a long illness.

He was a native of Hawkins Couny and was retired from the Army with 23 years service. After his retirement he was employed as a guard at the Holston Defense Plant. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Melinda Palmer, Church Hill; daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Chestnut, Spanway, Washington; sons, Joseph, Kingsport, and Robert Palmer, Church Hill; half-sisters, Mrs. Maude Glowacki, Willowick, Ohio, Mrs. Sally Ferrell, Rogersville, and Mrs. Jean McBee, Sewanee, Ten.; half-brothers, Alfred, George and Arthur Ferrell, all of Rogersville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
