Vince attended UNL for three years before starting his life-long employment with Sears as a repair technician, working first in Lincoln, then in Grand Island where he stayed for 20 years before moving to Omaha in 2012.
Vince enjoyed visiting family and friends, golfing, watching NASCAR, and baseball. He adored and doted on his cats, Ralph and Alice. His offbeat jokes and talent for making animal noises usually took us by surprise and always made for a good laugh by all, with the exception of his high school teachers! Vince had a knack for memorizing numbers and could recite zip codes, mile marker numbers, and birth dates upon request. His humor and gentleness will be missed by so many.
Vince was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his mother, Maxine K. (Knipschild) Burke of Gretna, brother David Burke of Gretna, sisters Bridget (Michael) Chatterson of Gretna, Audrey (Brad) Boehm of Hermosa, SD, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Vince was preceded in death by his father, Gerard A. Burke, grandparents John and Wilhelmina Burke and Louis and Emma Knipschild, cousin Mike Burke, many aunts and uncles.
Visitation: Friday, January 6, 2023, 5-7pm with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass is Saturday, January 7th at 10:30 with luncheon following, all at St. Patrick's Church in Gretna, NE.
Memorials directed to the family to be designated later.
