Prussian Mercenary Commander. František "Franz" Baron von Trenck was born into a military family of noble stature and is best known for serving as a mercenary in the Imperial Russian Army. Russian Empress Anna Ivanovna accepted his offer to serve and was later appointed to the role of major thanks to his bravery. He gained popularity for both his brutality and disobedient conduct during the Russo-Turkish War. Baron von Trenck was subsequently expelled from his military post and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Špilberk fortress in Brno, located in modern day Czechia. While serving his life sentence, Baron von Trenck confessed his evil deeds to a Capuchin Friar, and later donated a portion of his wealth to charity with the stipulation that he be buried within the Capuchin crypt with the monks.
