Guy Owens, son of William Lawson Hathaway Owens (1840-1916) and Francis Emugene (Genie) JOHNSTON Owens (1843-1903). Guy was born in Vermillion, Dakota Territory where his mother ran and operated the local newspaper. After fire destroyed the business, the family moved back to Chicago.
Guy was an electrician by trade and owned several companies; Guy Owens Electrical Contracting Company in Chicago and later in 1907 the Standard Telephone Company in Honolulu, Hawaii.
On 12 August 1903 he married Jennie MURRAY (28 Sep 1883- 26 Apr 1926) at a ceremony at the bride's parents' home in Honolulu.
30 Jun 1908, Guy was working on restoring power to Kamehameha School after a storm when he was tragically electrocuted and died.
He was buried in Nu'u'ana (O'ahu) Cemetery. His wife, Jenny, remarried to Carl Kalani Hedeman. She is also buried in the same cemetery by her second husband.
