Venita Jones Kinnett died Friday in a Meeker Nursing Home. She was 79. She was born January 15, 1921 to Rufus and Mary Jones.

She graduated from Chandler High School in 1940 and worked at Harp's Valley Green Farms in Shawnee. She married Sam Paton Kinnett on August 4, 1940. The Kinnett Family owned and operated a dairy farm west of Meeker.

Mrs. Kinnett worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission until her 1982 retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Meeker Roundup Club, a member of the American Angus Association and an adviser for the Kinnett's Angus Farms operations.

She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, where she was church pianist and Sunday school teacher. She later joined Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee. In 1976, she and her husband visited Israel with a church group.

Mrs. Kinnett was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sister, Juanita Burrahm and brothers, Horace and Harold Jones.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Mattie Kinnett of Meeker and Troy and Judy Kinnett of Shawnee, one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Paul Sing of Meeker, six grandchildren and their spouses, Leeanna and Marshal Yoakum of Shawnee, Geary and Aloyshia Kinnett of Sapulpa, Shane and Michelle Kinnett of Checotah, Brad and Christy Kinnett of Shawnee, Jessica and Derrick Carpenter of Bethel and Sharita Sing of Meeker, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson will officiate under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
