Funeral Rites Set for Soldier
Body of Pfc. DeLong Returned to Shepherd

The body of Pfc. Albert DeLong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis DeLong of Shepherd, who was killed in France during World War II, was scheduled to arrive in Shepherd Wednesday afternoon.
Military burial rites will take place Thursday afternoon, at 2 p.m., from the Garber Funeral Home, with interment in Salt River cemetery. The Rev. W. H. Bell will officiate, and teh Blanchard American Legion Post will supervise military ceremonies.
Pfc. DeLong was born Aug. 16, 1922, and died in action in France, Dec. 4, 1945. He joined the Army in April, 1944. He worked in the Willow Run bomber plant prior to his induction.
Surviving besides his parents are three sisters, Mrs. Edna Williams and Alice of Riverdale, and Mrs. Helen Yarnell of Shepherd; and Walter of Shepherd, Eugene of five brothers, William, Wesley and Winn and Ira of Alberque, N. M.
