Arthur S. Byers, 96, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022 at his home. Born October 29, 1926 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Daniel D. and Mary M. Sollenberger Byers. Arthur married Ruth A. Meyers on July 27, 1950 and together they raised three daughters and a son. In Arthur's early years, he farmed on Garnes Road for 28 years. Later on, he drove a lime truck for Lloyd Bricker over the span of 13 years, and also sold seeds for Micogen Seed Company from 1982-2007. Arthur was a dedicated friend to all and his love for the Lord was very evident. Arthur was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church of Edenville, PA. Arthur is survived by his two daughters, Barbara A. Byers, and Janet M. (Mark) Rock, a son, Gerald A. (Martha) Byers all of Chambersburg, 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Daniel (Ruth) Byers, Esther Brechbill, and sister-in-law, Rachel Byers. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Byers (2017), a daughter, Regina Faye Bender (2008), and siblings: Thelma Byers, Mary Byers, and Jacob Byers. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Lemasters Old Order River Brethren Meeting House A funeral will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 4, at the Lemasters Old Order River Brethren Meeting House with ministers: Keith Sensenig, Lynn Gayman, and Mark Rock leading the service. Burial will follow at Meyers Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA.
