He worked for 23 years with Active Products. He was a member of God's House Ministries. Papaw was a great musician and played lead guitar on the worship team at his church. He played in numerous bands and loved playing his Fender and Gibson for family and friends. He was a great father figure and loved his family. He loved his Lord and would sit down and talk to you about the Bible. He loved joking and tinkering on family and friends' cars. He was a great history buff and loved watching documentaries on the History Channel.
Survivors include his life partner, Theresa Hollins of Gas City; daughters, Terra (Butch) Ashcraft of Fairmount, Kris (Kristin) Holmes of Berne, Misty (Richard Watkins) Phelps of Alexandria; son, Micah Holmes of Kankakee, IL; step-daughters, Addie (Cole Herrera) Bennett of Gas City, Sara (Kristopher Gorrell) Nesbitt of Marion; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, R. Dennis Holmes of Cave City, KY; and sister, Julie Morris of Gas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William L., Sr. and Virginia R. Holmes; and brothers, Daniel Holmes and Roy Holmes.
A service to celebrate William's life was held on Saturday, January 14, 2022 at God's House Ministries 216 W. 6th St., Marion, IN.
