CHARLES F. DEMPSEY
Charles Dempsey died at his home in Ft. Smith, Sat. morning Jan. 6, of cement on the lungs at the age of 38 yrs. He was an honest, upright Christian man & was well known here as he and his family resided here some yrs. ago before they removed to Ft. Smith. He is mourned by a wife and five children, a father, W. H. Dempsey & two brothers. Ed and Claud, who lives in Hartford, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Baldwin who lives in Dustin, OK. besides a host of friends. The body was brought to Hartford for burial & services were held at the Apostolic Church. The Rev. Fayette Romine had charge of the Obsequies. His wife was unable to come as she is confined to her bed with a severe illness. Mrs. Baldwin was also unable to attend.
NOTE: According to the death report Charles died on the 5th of January, I checked the 1918 calendar on the Internet and the 5th was on Saturday not the 6th as reported in his obit. Also because of heavy snow's the burial could not take place as planned so he wasn't buried when stated either, they had to wait for the snow to melt. This information was provided by a family member.
