María de Jesús Lugo y Ruíz was born on her father's Rancho San Antonio. She was baptized at Mission San Gabriel January 24, 1823 (SG Baptism 06915). She was 14 years old when she married Anglo-American immigrant Isaac Julian Williams, 39, at Mission San Gabriel May 10, 1837. Her father awarded her the title to the 22,000-acre Rancho Santa Ana del Chino as a wedding present. She died at Rancho Santa Ana del Chino in June 1842 after giving birth to her third child.
