Garver

Frederick R. Garver, 80, R.R. 2, Fairland, well known Sugar Creek Township resident, died at 4 p.m. Monday at his home. He had been in failing health several months.

Mr. Garver was a retired teacher, having served as principal, teacher and coach at the former Boggstown High School from 1916 to 1943, after which he taught at the former Moral Township High School. He also owned and operated the Red Mills near Boggstown from 1921 to 1971, when he retired.

A lifelong resident of Shelby County, Mr. Garver was a member of the Boggstown Presbyterian Church, Sugar Creek Masonic Lodge No. 279, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and a charter member of Acacia Fraternity.

Mr. Garver was born in Sugar Creek Township on Sept. 6, 1897, a son of John Henry and Catherine M.C. (Rasp) Garver. On Sept. 25, 1937, he married Lucille Compton, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Fred W. Garver, R.R. 2 Fairland; Mrs. Joann Dennison, R.R. 3, Fairland; Mrs. Joyce Persinger and Donald H. Garver, both of R.R. 1, Boggstown, and eight grandchildren. A sister preceded in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ewing Mortuary, with the Rev. Allen B. Layman officiating. Burial will be in Boggstown Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
