"Spence" Rogers Dies

J. S. "Spence" Rogers died at his home at Newton, West Virginia, on July 9, 1956. Spence Retired May 1, 1947 after 19 years with the Company. He started with the Company when we built the Newton compressor station and began development in Geary District, Roane County. After the station was built he was one of the first operators. Later, as the operations became smaller, he worked in the field and as a chart changer.
Spence had many friends in the Company and in the community. He was an easy fellow to get along with, handy at whatever job he undertook, and was a good man to have around.
After retiring he spent most of his time working in his garden, keeping up two houses he owned at Newton, and working part time in a local store.
Spence was a member of the Newton Baptist Church.
