SYRACUSE, Ind. – Mary Hodgson Ferguson, 98, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014. She was born April 7, 1916, in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of Bert and Emma (Carney) Adams. She graduated from Blacklick Township High School in Belsano, Pa. On March 3, 1942, she married Lloyd Hodgson who preceded her in May 1957; and on April 27, 1962, she married Ben R. Ferguson, who preceded her in September 1988.

She was a homemaker and moved to the Syracuse area in 1988 from Warren.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Warren. Mary was very musical and played the piano and sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church in Warren and also at Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Tom (Jan) Hodgson of Syracuse; stepson, Michael Ferguson of St. Joseph, Mo.; stepdaughter, Joan Ferguson of South Bend, Ind.; granddaughter, Julie (CY) Nahvi of West Fargo, N.D.; grandson, Jeff (Amy) Hodgson of Syracuse; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Kate Nahvi of West Fargo, N.D., and Mia and Liam Hodgson of Syracuse; and stepgrandchildren, Michael Ferguson, Holly and Nick Searfoss and Darcy, John and Bill Daugherty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Ward and Paul Adams; three sisters, Erma Amond, Grace Davis and Ruth Liphart; and stepdaughter, Beth Daugherty.

Private family services will be held and burial will be in Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial bequest may be given to the IU Goshen Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 723, Goshen, IN 46527. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
