Helen M Markwardt, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in University Medical Center-Mesabi, Hibbing. She was born on Nov. 9, 1908, in Millerville, Minn., the daughter of Sylvester and Antonia Stich.

She moved to the Hibbing area in the fall of 1999, from Detroit Lakes, Minn. She was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community.

Helen is survived by her daughter Beverly Gherardi; son William Markwardt; sisters: Dorothy Rapatt; and Nettie Lokken; brother, Victor Stich; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
