Efren attended Hazelton, a small rural school in Greeley, Colorado. Efren and Abel Griego were together for 63 years. Efren was a homemaker and loved cooking, especially potato enchiladas, tamales, green chili, homemade tortillas and her meatloaf and stuffing was the best. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and doing crafts. She loved to watch the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos. Efren and her sisters taught each other how to dance. She also loved her chihuahuas.

Efren was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Efren is survived by her husband, Abel Gilbert Griego; sons, Joe (Isabel) Lagunas, Jerry (Gina) Griego and William (Valerie) Griego; sister, Sally (Nick) Martinez; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and her niece aka daughter, Beatrice Castilleja. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catarino and Mary Lagunas, son, Gilbert Abel Griego Jr., sister, Barbara Lagunas and granddaughter, Trellen Handly.

There will be Recitation of the Rosary on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Liturgy of the Word at 10:30 a.m. A Committal Service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street; Greeley, Colorado.
