He is survived by his wife, Arwilda Lawrence Heslep; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Danny Waddell of Troutville, Patricia and Darin Hall of Garner, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Myrteen Heslep of Salem; a son, Richard Heslep of Elliston; five grandchildren, Michael Waddell and wife, Donna of Troutville, Mallory Heslep and Brielle Heslep of Salem, Dylan Hall and Sarah Hall of Garner, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Moyer and Mary Heslep of Elliston; sister-in-law and husband, Clara and Crowell Smith; sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Webster; brother-in-law and wife, Elwood and Helen Lawrence.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Currie, the Gentle Shepherd Hospice and many others for their care during his long illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4 at 11 a.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Chapel Salem with Rev. H. Jack Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
