A resident of Norton and Barberton for 70 years, he was a US Army veteran of World War I. Mr. Smith was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired from Diamond Machine Company after 20 years of service, and a member of Norton Ponoma State and National Grange.
He was preceded by his wife, Esther. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Arlene) Galehouse of Doylestown; sons, Melvin L. of Twinsburg, Kenneth D. of Norton, and Delbert R. Smith of Wooster; plus 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Paul E. Smith of Florida; and sisters, Fern Cope, and Gladys Shoeman, both of Florida.
Services in Campfield-Hickman Funeral Home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with interment in Greenlawn.
