Charlie A. Megargel, 91, passed away Thursday June 30, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hammonton, Charlie was a lifelong resident. He owed and operated Megargel Oil Co. from 1952-1979 in Hammonton and later worked at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City from 1983-1999. Charlie proudly served in the US Air Force, a 1948 HHS graduate, a member of the Hammonton Vol. Fire Co #1 since 1952 and was an Exempt Firemen and member of the Hammonton Rescue Squad. He coached in the Hammonton Little League for many years and served on the Hammonton School Board for 6 years.

Charlie's life was exemplified by simple acts of love. He loved his wife, sons, and their families unconditionally. He had a passion for life that included loving close friends, neighbors, extended family, and especially the town of Hammonton. He was a proud fan of his Blue Devils and Philadelphia Eagles. He will be missed by those who loved him.

Predeceased by his parents Harold and Sofia Megargel, he is survived by his loving wife Bettye Jo, nee Owens. His 2 sons Robert " Bob" and Harold " Niffer" and his wife Laura. 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service with Military Honors, Tuesday July 12, 2022 10:30 AM at the Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton.
