Leslie O. Ferris
Leslie O. Ferris, 81, 521 S. Exchange St. died Jan. 11, 1993, at his home. Mr. Ferris, a lifelong resident, was an automobile service mechanic with the Mouse Motor Company. In 1979, he retired from work with the Lyon County Road and Bridge Department. He was a corporal and an automobile and radio mechanic in the Army Air Force during World War II and also served in the National Guard. He was the last of six children in a pioneer family who came to Osage County in a covered wagon from Indiana and settled in Osage County in 1871.
Leslie O. Ferris, the son of Oscar and Mary Louisa Newport Ferris, was born Dec. 17, 1910, at Emporia. He married Oma L. Bowles Oct. 12, 1940, at Cottonwood Falls.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Betty Jean Ferris of Washburn, Wis., and Mary Ann Hoyer of Irving, Calif.; four grandchildren, Medora Nelson-Ferris, Rowan Nelson-Ferris, Leslie Anne Hoyer and Jenifer Celia Hoyer.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Epp will conduct the service. A private burial will be in Alpine Cemetery in Osage County.
