Ona Marie DeWitte, age 85, of Baltic, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at her daughter's home near Baltic. Funeral services began at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Baltic Lutheran Church. Interment followed at the Pioneer Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to her granddaughter Jennifer to be used for her battle with cancer.

Ona Marie DeWitte was born on July 2, 1937, to Ole and Marie (Almlie) Haagenson in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. She graduated from Baltic High School in 1955. She worked for Newcomb Finance and the City of Baltic before going to work for the Baltic School District for 37 years as the school secretary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Laurie (James) Schwebach of Urbandale, IA, Lisa (Lynn) Olson of Baltic, Scott DeWitte of Lennox, and Ryan DeWitte of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene (Janis) Haagenson and Lowell (Nancy) Haagenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Deloris, and father of her children, Rene "Red" DeWitte.
