Roger D. Cartwright, Sr. (86) of North Royalton and New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2022.

Roger was born on May 27, 1936, in North Royalton, to Harley and Margaret (nee Young) Cartwright, the youngest of seven boys. He graduated from E. E. Root High School in North Royalton in 1955.

Roger married Janice Ames on June 10, 1955, and they shared 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2017. For many years, Roger and Janice enjoyed the winter months at their New Smyrna Beach, FL home.

Roger will be remembered as a valued member of the North Royalton community carrying on the centuries' legacy of the Cartwright family's contribution to the city's establishment and development.

Roger and Jan devoted their lives to their faith, their family, and their farm, The Ponderosa. Roger and his family raised and showed award-winning Arabian horses.

Roger was a long-time employee of Cartwright Furnace and Sheet Metal, and Willham Roofing, Co. as a skilled craftsman in the sheet metal trade. He was a retired member of Sheet Metals Union Local #33.

Roger and Jan were life-long members of North Royalton Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents, Edward and Halcia Ames; his six brothers: Gordon; Wilbur (Evelyn); Homer (Marge and Pat); Wallace (aka Hank); Kenneth (Joan); Harley Jr. (aka Jiggs).

Roger is survived by his children: Dale (Shari) of Medina, OH; Darrell (Peggy) of Cuyahoga Falls; Carol Wheeler (Dan) of Hilton Head, NC; Roger Jr. (Karen) of North Royalton; Rob (Chris) of North Royalton; Rick (Denice) of Medina; 16 grandchildren and their spouses/significant others; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Donna Cartwright and Carol Cartwright, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
