Mr. Sloop died here Tuesday night Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted Tuesday morning. He apparently had a heart attack.
He was born March 30, 1890, at Norcatur, Kan., and spent most of his life in the Winchester community. He was a farmer before he retired. He also worked for the Federal Land Bank six years and had (image blurred) Life Insurance.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Lions Club, both at Winchester.
He was married to M. Rose Reichart June 29, 1929 at Nortonville. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Homer Leroy Sloop, Rockport, Tex., and John and Ed Sloop, both of Winchester; three daughters Mrs. Beth Freeman, Phillipsburg, Mrs. Alice Berry, Brookings, S. D., and Mrs. Florence Larkin, Leavenworth; a sister, Mrs. Lola Keys, Winchester; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Sloop will lie in state after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at O'Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the hospital.**
