Mrs. Susan Peter, widow of David Peter, and a life-long resident of Springfield township died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allen Shale in Breaden street Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Death was due to the infirmities upon old age complicated with heart trouble. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Peter was born in Springfield township January 17, 1829. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Susannah Rummel pioneer residents of Springfield township. The deceased spent practically all of her life in the community in which she saw the light of day. She came to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Shale several months ago. Mrs. Peter was the mother of ten children three of whom survive as follows:C. A. Peter of Breaden street, Mrs. John Smith of West Myrtle avenue, and Mrs.Allen Shale of Breaden street. She also leaves a brother, Simeon Rummel of Leetonia, 16 grand and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Peter preceded his wife in death 37 years ago. A son, F. M. Peters was killed 19 years ago by a falling derrick at the Mahoning avenue sewer.

Mrs. Peter became a Christian early in life and united with the Evangelica Lutheran church at New Springfield of which she was a devoted member at the time offer death. She was broad minded and practical in her religious views, a devoted wife, a loving mother and charitable neighbor who will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning from the Shale home, No. 3 Breaden street at 8:30 o'clock, with Rev. C. A. Boory officiating. The remains will later be taken to New Springfield in charge of Undertaker C. E. Shriver, where the services will be concluded in the Emanuel Lutheran church at 10:30 o'clock, with
Rev. Grosse in charge. Interment will be made in the New Springfield cemetery.
