She was the daughter of James Bert and Georgia Carline Clemmons Walters.
Betty was a secretary for the Charleston County School District for many years. She was an active member of Charleston Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and their Women's Missionary Union and served with the West Ashley Bread of Life Food Ministry. Her Christian faith was the guiding force in her life.
Betty is survived by her mother of Charleston, her children, Cathy Low and husband, Larry, of John's Island, Connie Tyler, of Mt. Pleasant and Vicki Smith and husband, David, of Alpharetta, GA; her grandchildren, Jonathan and Daniel Smith; a sister, Maxine Ackerman and husband, Raymond, of Orangeburg and a brother, James B. Walters of Sparta, GA.
