Theresa had a cousin in Zell, Missouri, who told her about a vacant housekeeper's job in the local priest's house in Zell. So Theresa had employment waiting for her. For the trip on the sailing ship she was required to bring a supply of food for the six of them for ninety days. The ship supplied the water and fuel for cooking. They sailed on open water for ninety days on the trip from Germany to New Orleans, Louisiana. From New Orleans, they came up the Mississippi River to Zell.
Theresa's daughter Veronica, when 18 years old, took a postiion as maid and cook for a household in Ste. Genevieve.
