Pioneer Woman of the County Succumbed
at 3:30 Sunday Morning After Stroke
Services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church for Mrs. Marshall White, former resident of Unionville, who died at her home six miles northeast of Centerville yesterday morning at 3:30 from a paralytic stroke. All the children were present this afternoon for the services at which Rev. Mott R. Sawyers officiated.
Mrs. White was born at the Jas. McAdams farm two miles west of Unionville March 24, 1861, where she grew to womanhood and attended the Kirksville, Mo. Normal school. Later she returned and taught at the Grimes school and several other rural schools around Unionville. On Dec. 2, 1886, Hazel Time McAdams married Marshall White at the home of her father and moved to the White farm, northeast of Centerville, where she lived until her death.
To this marriage nine children were born, Floyd and Abbie White, who lived with her, Mrs. Ruby Banta of Morristown, N.J., Mrs. Edith Stickler, Jerome; Robert White, Udell; Hazel White of Omaha; Marshall White, Jr. of Centerville; and two deceased children, Edna White, who died Aug. 29, 1909, and Glen, July 5, 1928. Her husband preceded her in death March 4, 1924. She also had eleven grandchildren. She is also survived by Mrs. Luella Hudgens, of Unionville and Mrs. John Hicks, of Moravia.
Mrs. White had suffered a stroke 13 years ago and another which came suddenly Sunday morning. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church and was loved by all who knew her.
