Wilma Ruth Bardwell Ellis-Johnson Matriarch, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Wife. Sister. Aunt. Friend
WHEREAS, Mother entered into this earthly realm on June 6, 1934 in Huntingdon, Tennessee. Mother received Christ in 1953 and was baptized in Jesus' name at the Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God. in Chicago, IL. Mother married Bishop David Lee Ellis in 1954 and during their 41 years 7 children were born. She relocated with her husband to Detroit, MI in 1962 to assist him in ministry as the First Lady of what is now Greater Grace Temple (The City of David). After Bishop's transition, Mother was married to the late Bishop Henry Lee Johnson in 1998 and relocated to Fresno, CA. to assist him in ministry as First Lady of the Bethesda Apostolic Church for 14 years until his passing.
WHEREAS, Mother served in ministry from her youth until her health failed. After returning to Detroit in 2013 she supported both of her sons in ministry starting Sunday mornings with her eldest son Bishop Charles at her home church Greater Grace Temple: she would then occasionally wife, exceptional mother, serving as First Lady throughout the church helping others. Mother was always encouraging others, upholding the beauty of holiness and reminding them that, "we are in the sanctified church" She brought grace and integrity to each of her Kingdom assignments worship with and support her son Pastor Spencer at Citadel of Praise. Whereas, Mother was known for being a holy woman of God, a loving
WHEREAS, on Friday, December 9, 2022, Mother received her wings for her flight to the realm of Heaven. Mother never met a stranger and treated everyone with kindness and greeted them with a smile and with. "Praise The Lord"! She will be greatly missed.
