Mr. Dean came from Texas to Duncan, Arizona in 1910. When he arrived in Arizona, for some unknown reason the "s" was dropped from his last name. In Duncan, he met and married Harriet Cauthen, 9 Jun 1916. At that time, he was working for the O. L. D. Cattle Company. Louis and Harriet had four sons, William Louis, Harry Edwin, Carroll Bailey and Charley Milam.
In 1920, they moved to Red Rock, New Mexico. They returned to Duncan and Mrs. Dean became a Postmistress in 1934. Mr. Dean served as a deputy sheriff, but he was a rancher at heart. He was a great friend of the Joe T. Place family of Duncan.
