Steven John Arnaudo, 99, passed away on August 8, 2022. He was born in Fresno, California on April 8, 1923 to Ben and Christine Arnaudo. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1941 where he met his loving wife.
Steve served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was part of many committees and began an appreciation for public service. Steve devoted 26 years to the San Joaquin County Planning Commission as a past chairman and spent over 50 years as the director of the Westside Irrigation District and the Oak Flat Water District for 16 years. He also served as a Trustee and past president of the Tracy Joint Union High School Board from 1969 to 1981 and additionally served as the president for the Tracy Toastmasters Club and the Advisory Committee of Production Credit Association. Alongside those organizations, Steve was a dutiful member of the San Joaquin County Model Community Correctional Advisory Committee, the Tracy Capital Improvement Committee, the Board of Governors for the California Council of Growers, the Crime Prevention Committee of San Joaquin County, the Citizens Advisory Council at Deuel Vocational Institution, and a charter member of the Tracy Italian Catholic Federation.
Throughout his life, Steve also received many awards including, the honorary Chapter Farmer Award from the Tracy FFA in 1982, an award from the National Child Safety Council to combat drugs in 1973, the Tracy Citizen of the Year award in 1986, the Top Farmer Award for San Joaquin County in 1987, and was Agricultural Hall of Fame inductee of 2014.
Steve is survived by his wife, Arlean of 71 years; daughter Leonor Franco (Jim), sons Greg (Kristi), Vernon (Carolyn), Frank (Janice), and daughter-in-law Cheryl. Along with nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and sister Edna.
He was preceded in death by his son Jonathan, brother-in-law Milton Alvarez, sister-in-law Betty Ann Alvarez and brothers Mario, Edward and Leo.
Fry Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Arnaudo Family. All services are private.
The family refers memorial donations to be made to the St. Bernard's Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
