Aged Hacoda Resident Buried Last Week (Geneva County Reaper, March 23, 1950)

Hacoda, Ala., Special, Mar. -
W.D. (Bud) Adkison, 84, died at the home of his son, Wallace Adkison Monday, March 13th, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at Eight Mile Church with Rev Mack McDaniel of Darlington, Fla. officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery with Shepherd Funeral Home of Florala in charge of arrangements in the Masonic ceremony.
Mr. Adkison lived an honest clean life. He was born March 17, 1866, and came to Hacoda community when he was 5 years old. He married Miss Bama Lowry March 13th, 1886 to this marriage was born eleven children, seven girls: Anna Lee, Gussie, Fannie, Willie, Mattie, Blannie, and Byrdie; and four boys: Ralph, Bill, John, and Dan.
Mrs. Bama Lowery Adkison died November 22nd, 1918.
Mr. Adksion married his second wife, Mrs. Donnie Pridgen Ward, December 14th, 1919 to them were born three children, one boy Wallace, and two girls Margaret and Tommie.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Donnie Adkison; nine daughters, Mrs. Anna Lee Eason, Hacoda, Mrs. Fannie Owens, Crestview, Fla., Mrs. Gussie Pridgen of Andalusia, Mrs. Willie Bedsole, Hacoda, Mrs. Mattie Crews, Niceville, Fla., Mrs. Blannie Jones, Andalusia, Mrs. Byrdie Peoples, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Margaret Waters, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Tommie Barnes of Norfolk, Va.; five sons, Bill, Ralph, Dan, and Wallace of Hacoda, and John of Florala; forty-one grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; three brothers, Dan B. Adkison of Samson, Allen Adkison of Florala; one sister, Mrs. John Scott, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
