KARMA ADAMS CORNELIUS Karma Adams Cornelius, 89, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at St. Rose de Lima Hospital, in Henderson. A lifetime resident of Southern Nevada, Karma was born Sept. 1, 1920, in St. George, Utah. The fifth child born to Milo Henry Adams and Eunice Hortence Gubler, she was the first of their eight children to be born in a hospital. Karma was raised in Bunkerville, attended the local elementary school and graduated from Virgin Valley High School, where she played in the school band and participated in 4-H and other organizations related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young woman, Karma worked in Bunkerville's general store, the Western Cafe in Mesquite, and later worked for the Selective Service in Las Vegas. She was a homemaker and property manager for much of her life. Karma married Joe Cornelius in April 1945, after his return from World War II. They lived in Mina and Gabbs, and in 1954, they made their home in Las Vegas. Their 57-year marriage produced three daughters who survive them, Myrna Wilson and Amber Drabant (Robert), both of Las Vegas, and Judy Cornelius of Reno. They are also survived by seven grandchildren, Phoenix Calabro (Leo) of Tucson, Ariz., Maxwell Wilson and Alexis Jorge (Carlos), both of Las Vegas, Jeauxie Wilson of Los Angeles, and Ashley Groneman (Daniel), Landon Drabant and Shelby Drabant, all of Las Vegas. Karma was a proud great-grandmother of three, Skyler and Niko Calabro of Tucson and Taylor Terro-Drabant of Las Vegas. In addition to her family, her youngest brother, Herman Adams; and several nieces and nephews survive her. Family meant the world to Karma. Her family greatly relied on her for counsel and support. She was a great story teller, had a great laugh and never met a stranger. Her spirit and love for life will help guide us in the future. We will miss her dearly every day. Services are under the direction of Palm Mortuary. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, with visitation one hour prior, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 221 S. Lorenzi Ave., at the corner of Lorenzi and Celeste Ave., in Las Vegas (nearby major cross streets: Alta and Rainbow Blvd.). Burial will follow at the Bunkerville Cemetery in Bunkerville.
