Wilbur "Bill" Bishop was born February 1, 1918 near DeSmet South Dakota to George M Bishop and Elsie Barber. He served in Army Air Corps mostly in Africa in World War 11. He worked for a time in California until his cousin Buck Barber asked him to come to Rapid City to manage the Independent Bindery for him.
He married Nellie K Beatty Oct 24,1952 in Winner SD, he continued to work for Bindery until it closed in the early 1970's. At the time of his death he and Nellie were night cleaners at Meadowwood Lanes in West Rapid.
Bill was a step father to thee children from Nellie"s first marriage. He was the only father the children Greg, Mary Barbara and Gary ,ever knew.
They lived in Robbinsdale where, if they had stayed at home they would have been high and dry. AS it was they went to work and when the spillway went out at Canyon Lake their car was crossing Rapid Creek on West Main, where McDonald's is now, their car was found downstream from that location.
He was a good father to his step son Greg, he took him fishing and hunting. Bill also enjoyed cooking spaghetti and chili for the family.
He is survived by he and Nellie's children Janene and Ron Bishop of Rapid City. He is also survived by his step children Greg Bishop aka McKay, Barbara Bishop aka McKay and Gary Bisop aka McKay.
He was predeceased by brothers Philo, and Jesse and by a sister Evelyn.
