Mr. Edwards was born January 30, 1926 in North Carolina to the late Everette Marcellus Edwards Sr. and the late Sallie Mitchel Wells Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Pegram Edwards, half brother, Clarence Mann Edwards and daughter Evan Jean Edwards Pecca.

Everyone who met Everette knew he lived life to the fullest. Over the course of 90 years he was and Eagle Scout, a pilot, a sea captain, a WWII veteran, an avid golfer and sports fisherman, and a loyal Tarheel and a Phi Gamma Delta. He fought in WWII, as a member of the 8th Army Air Corp, as a Ball Turret Gunner on a B17. He was shot down on his 20th mission over Germany landing safely in Czchoslovakia. After WWII he met and married Ann Bradshaw Pegram and had 2 daughters; Marcia Winchester Edwards and Evan Jean Edwards. They lived in Apex, NC where he was President of Carolina Plywood Company. He was active in Apex's growth and as Mayor, he was part of a progressive town board that developed a plan to take Apex into the 21st century. as an avid golfer he spent his later years at McGregor Downs and the Crystal Coast Country Club, even hitting a hole in one and shooting his age at 88. He was the captain of the Evan and the Lucky Bird. He fished in 38 consecutive Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournaments missing his first tournament last year due to his health.

Everette was a fiercely, loyal friend, and on occasion even said "I am blessed with so many friends, I don't even know them all." His greatest accomplishment was becoming a sober Alcoholic from 1974 until death.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home, Apex, NC . Burial will be held at Apex City Cemetery directly following the visitation.

Survivors include daughter, granddaughters, great-grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made To Cure Alzheimers Fund (curealz.org) and Hospice of Stanly and The Uwharrie 960 North 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 and Everette Edwards Memorial Garden, Crystal Coast Country Club, Pine Knoll Shores, NC.
