Peggy Keltner Bays, age 73, of Elm Mott, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Waco. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Peggy Ann was born in McGregor, Texas, to the late Ebb Lee and Ida George. She attended schools in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1952 and McLennan Community College with an Associates Degree in Nursing Home Administration. On September 13, 1975, she was united in marriage to James Bays in Waco. Peggy worked as a nursing home administrator for Crestview Manor, Jeffrey Place, Ridgecrest Retirement Center, and Westview Manor in McGregor. She also taught courses at McLennan Community College before retiring in 1999.

Peggy enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor. She served as president of the West Middle School PTO. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in West where she was active in the Ladies Albertine Circle and Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard George; and a sister, Marjorie Fitzpatrick.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, James Bays, of Elm Mott; sons, Richard Keltner and wife, Wendy, of Atlanta, GA, and David Keltner and wife, Sharon, of Eddy; daughter, Gwen Kitchens and husband, William, of Moody; stepsons: Gary Bays, of Elm Mott, Randy Bays and wife, Cristin, of Conroe, and Brian Bays and wife, Elizabeth, of Waco; stepdaughters, Deborah Staas and husband, Kenny, and Cheryl Breedlove and husband, Johnny, all of Lorena; sister, Mary Oliver and husband, Jim, of Navarro Mills; 25 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
